Computer specs and ISP:

I’ve been running WoW on my LG craptop for years now, and it works like a dream on lowest settings. I need a fan blowing into the side of the laptop to stop it from overheating. This keeps me stimulated and cold during the raid. As for my ISP, I’m going to be honest; living in Africa takes its toll on latency. I get 350-450 ms. Despite what you may think, when its that low, 350 is the same as 100ms, especially when you’re used to raiding with 700ms. You just have to get used to it. Do you think I really would have gotten this far if my latency was an issue?

Raid experience PRE-TBC:
None

Raid experience post TBC:
Karazahn – Cleared
Gruul’s Lair – Cleared
Magtheridon - Cleared
Serpentshrine Cavern – 6/6 – Cleared
Tempest Keep – 4/4 – Cleared(The ring isn’t equipped yet because I’m waiting to get more rep in Mount Hyjal before I enchant it)
Mount Hyjal – 5/5 – Cleared
Black Temple – 5/9 – Tries on Reliquary of Souls

Have you tried Ghosts at Teron Gorefiend, Tears at Archimonde, and do you have 295 Shadow Resistance set? (If not you will be required to farm 18 Primal Shadow & 13 Life)
I’ve always been very lucky with the ghosts at Gorefiend. I’ve done the fight about 5 times now, and have never had them. I have however, read the tactics and will annihilate them should I be chosen next time. I have used the tears on many occasions, never dying from being thrown up. I don’t have the shadow resistance set. Willing to farm.

Do you know how to use vent 2.1 and do you have it?:
Yes Yes

Explain why you choose your current specc, and what you do to maximize your DPS/TPS/HPS on boss fights and trash.
I chose restoration because I love being a support class, specifically healing. I only found this out after trying Elemental and Enhancement. I don’t find the same enjoyment in doing damage as healing. As for my specific spec, it is considered an “entry level” spec into the world of raiding. 0/4/57 with those 4 points being in Ancestral Knowledge. I find this the best for me and have no intention of changing it anytime soon. It will of course be revised if you guys think it necessary. The current perception of Shamans is that they just spam chain heal. This is true to a certain extent. However, I personally use a significantly down-ranked healing wave for when only 1 or 2 targets are taking damage, Lesser Healing Wave for emergency situations and then rank 4 or 5 chain heal for everything else. I find my healing to be most effective when targeting a group of players taking AoE damage as in that situation, chain heal becomes the most efficient heal in the game, and the heal that every other healing class wishes they had Razz
I usually pop Mana Spring Totem and Wrath of Air, because I have nearly always had an enhancement shaman in the melee group. However, if I am assigned to that role, I will happily use Windfury and Strength of Earth. Although having a shadow priest in my group is a pleasant experience, I do not require one and am completely self-sufficient using Mana Potions etc.

Why should we recruit you? What do you bring to the guild? Are you worth our time?
You should recruit me because I know my class extremely well. I play it to the exclusion of everything else. I don’t piss around leveling alts. This is my only character. I focus during raids, and want to be part of something great. I bring knowledge of my class, skill and determination. I also bring an ambition to aspire for leadership positions. I was Shaman Class Leader in the Blood Gods for 4 months before taking a break from the game. I understand the importance of writing applications and first impressions, as hopefully, you can see here. I bring an unrivalled loyalty and a foundation for trust to be built on. Am I worth your time? Well, I suppose that’s for you to decide. I am aware you currently have 4 active resto shamans and 1 sitout and have denied many because of this. I am willing to sit out as long as I have to. My previous guild had a 6 day raid week, so I will find it easy to make all 3 of yours.

Which guilds have you been in before applying here? And why did you leave them?

The only real raiding guild I’ve ever had is The Blood Gods. I left them because after coming back from my 3 month break, 90% of the players were new. Not that this is a particularly bad thing, but let’s just say I feel less guilty about leaving them than I would have before my break. Before I go any further, yes Arugar is my IRL friend and we have played together for a year and a half now. He has just been accepted into The Four Ponymen and is one of the reasons I am applying here and only here. The main reason is that I can’t make a 6 day raid week anymore and your raid schedule is perfect.

Are you applying to any other guilds atm, if no then why not?
I don’t do that. Besides, Arugar has already been accepted here.

What do you expect from us, if you get invited?
I expect a fair opportunity to prove myself. I expect reasonable progress and I expect an Illidan kill before WotLK Very Happy

Write something about yourself that we might find interesting:
In Africa, we have a saying, passed down from generation to generation, around the campfire: It’s not rape if they’re dead.

I know I have only been accepted today, and my word doesn't carry very far in these matters. But I think I should just let everyone know a little about Sylas. He started playing WoW just over a year ago and settled into the game as if he'd been playing since the BETA version. He rose to 70 at a notable speed, taking in the surroundings from Durotar to STV to Outland, making the most of the game. Once he reached 70, he soon became accustomed to the ins and outs of raiding and has been a force ever since, topping healing meters from the word go. I am making this reply because I believe that he can make a big difference to any guild, he is 100% committed and a very nice guy to have around. He puts the guild before himself on countless occasions...He is a great shaman, a great player and more importantly knows how to drop Windfury!

As long as you understand that we give other shamans priority, especially on progress fights, i see no reason why you cant join.

Know that even from our backups, we require the 90% attendance each month, even if you dont get invited to a raid, we expect you to be outside the instance and ready for an invite.

Once we kill illidan we will start farming mh/bt to gear up for sunwell, which means that even our "backups" will get fully kitted up, and eventually you'll become a strong factor in our raid group. Bringing in shamans for the amazing "shaman stacking" on certain fights make them around 50 times easier. (my group had 9 bloodlusts on council Wink)

Thanks for the reply Helvius. I'm well aware of other shamans' priority over myself and agree to your terms.
